Plagiarism Policy
Journal of Economics and Business (JECOMBI)

Journal of Economics and Business (JECOMBI) is committed to maintaining academic integrity and ensuring the originality of all articles published in the journal. Plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabrication, falsification, and other forms of academic misconduct are considered serious violations of publication ethics.

All submitted manuscripts are expected to contain original scholarly work. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts properly acknowledge the ideas, words, data, findings, and other intellectual contributions of other researchers.

1. Plagiarism Screening

All manuscripts submitted to JECOMBI may undergo plagiarism and similarity screening during the editorial process. The screening process is conducted to identify substantial similarities between the submitted manuscript and previously published or publicly available works.

The similarity screening result is considered as one of the factors in the editorial assessment and does not automatically determine whether a manuscript is accepted or rejected. The editors may examine the nature, source, context, and extent of the similarities identified in the manuscript.

2. Authors' Responsibility

Authors are fully responsible for the originality and academic integrity of their submitted manuscripts.

  • Authors must submit original work that has not been previously published and is not simultaneously under consideration by another journal.
  • All sources used in the manuscript must be properly cited and included in the reference list.
  • Direct quotations must be clearly identified and appropriately referenced.
  • Authors must obtain appropriate permission when using copyrighted materials that require permission.
  • Authors must not intentionally manipulate wording, citations, references, or other content in order to conceal plagiarism or inappropriate reuse of previously published material.

3. Forms of Plagiarism

JECOMBI recognizes several forms of plagiarism and inappropriate reuse of scholarly material, including but not limited to:

  • Direct plagiarism: copying words, sentences, paragraphs, or other material from another source without proper acknowledgment.
  • Paraphrasing plagiarism: substantially reproducing another author's ideas or content without appropriate citation.
  • Self-plagiarism: reusing substantial portions of one's own previously published work without appropriate disclosure or citation.
  • Duplicate publication: submitting or publishing substantially the same research in more than one publication without proper disclosure.
  • Source misuse: presenting another person's data, findings, images, tables, or intellectual contributions as one's own.

4. Editorial Action

If substantial plagiarism or other forms of academic misconduct are identified, the editorial team will assess the case and determine the appropriate action. The action may depend on the severity, extent, and circumstances of the identified misconduct.

Depending on the circumstances, the manuscript may be returned to the authors for clarification or revision, rejected before publication, or subjected to further investigation. For articles that have already been published, the journal may issue a correction, expression of concern, or retraction when appropriate.

5. Plagiarism Detected After Publication

If plagiarism or significant academic misconduct is discovered after an article has been published, JECOMBI will investigate the matter and take appropriate action to protect the integrity of the scholarly record. Such action may include publishing a correction, issuing an expression of concern, or retracting the article, depending on the seriousness of the case.

6. Reporting Plagiarism

Readers, authors, reviewers, or other parties who identify suspected plagiarism or academic misconduct involving an article published in JECOMBI may report the concern to the editorial office. Reports should provide sufficient information and supporting evidence to allow the editorial team to conduct an appropriate assessment.

Commitment to Academic Integrity

JECOMBI is committed to maintaining a high standard of academic integrity and responsible scholarly communication. The journal expects all authors, editors, reviewers, and other participants in the publication process to uphold ethical standards and respect the intellectual contributions of others.
